Snowdays, snowmen, snowdomes… BLIZZARD!

”Nature has no bad weather, every kind of weather is beautiful.”
These are words from a famous Russian song. I agree with these words. I like all kinds of weather, rain, snow, sunny days. Only one thing I don’t like – to be too cold or to be too warm. But this is not the weather’s fault:) And thanks to civilization now we have a lot of things which can protect us: warm clothes, air conditioners, etc. So we can just relax and enjoy the beautiful views and pictures which nature presents to us everyday. Victoria

I hate snow recently. To remove the snow I waste my physical power. So I don’t do other work. And the car has problems, traffic problems, etc. So many things are lost in my life’s rhythm. However, a lot of snow coming will damage everyone. Kevin

I don’t like the cold weather. When the weather is cold I feel my feelings freeze and change. But I like snowing weather. I like to be at home and look out and enjoy it. Most of the time I make a soup. But these days are different. We have too much snow and the weather is too cold. Last year we had too much snow and I was a little upset because we came here a few months before and I missed my son and my parents. My daughter suggested that my husband and I go and make a snowman. At first I didn’t agree with her, but she insisted. At last we went to a small park near our house and made a beautiful snowman and all of us were happy. When I returned to my house, I felt I was happy and changed my feelings. Navid N

On the very first snowstorm day, at the end of last month, that was the heaviest snow that I’ve ever experienced in my life. That made me so excited. I enjoyed my first shoveling and took a lot of pictures for my blog. And we tried to make a “kamakura” which is a small snow dome. To tell you the truth we gave up to finish before we dug a room because we were too exhausted to dig it. Yes, I enjoyed the weather, but it was only the first time. In the second snowstorm I was getting sick of it. Because we have no snowplow, we have to shovel every time. And the worst thing for me is school closing. Staying home my son would find me doing nothing except watching t.v. So I have to pretend being busy doing house chores. O.K., sharing time with my big teenage son is good. But yesterday a bad thing happened. My husband got a backache when he was shoveling. He won’t be able to remove snow anymore. I got sick of it a lot already. Michiyo S.

BLIZZARD… In the winter of 2010 I received a call from a family. They wanted me to go to Hartford. They told me, please pick us up at 3 P.M. at our house and drop us off in Hartford. When I arrived in Hartford, I dropped the family off from the mini van and they asked me, “Could you pick us up at 9 P.M. to go back to Stamford? “O.K.,man,” I answered. “I will be back at 9 P.M.” At 7 P.M. I was on my way to Hartford and I turned on the radio and heard the forecast for the weather that said at 10 P.M. there will be a blizzard in Hartford. I arrived in Hartford at 9 P.M. and called them by phone. The family stayed at the house and invited me to come to the house. At first I said no thanks, but they insisted and I accepted.

The hours passed and the blizzard was coming. I tried to convince the family about the blizzard, but they were drunk and didn’t understand reason. At 11 P.M. they decided to go back, but it was too late, the blizzard was over us. I started the engine of my car and then took the highway, but it was slippery. The blizzard didn’t let me see the way, the rain on my window became frozen and the salt on all my windows didn’t permit me to see outside. It was horrible, I was going one mile per hour. The trip was supposed to take two hours. It took five hours to get back to my house. Raul G
